Betty Joyce Ecles, age 89, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017. She was born to the late Fredolph Gustaf Lindstorm and Johnnie Francis Lindstrom on July 17, 1928.

Betty was an accomplished pianist who played the piano and organ for many years at church, weddings and other events. She was a lifelong member of the Crosby United Methodist Church, the Highlands Order of the Eastern Star #261, and the Indian Shores Garden Club serving as president of the organization in 2002-2003. Betty was an avid gardener and loved to share her gorgeous azaleas...

Betty Joyce Ecles, age 89, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017. She was born to the late Fredolph Gustaf Lindstorm and Johnnie Francis Lindstrom on July 17, 1928.

Betty was an accomplished pianist who played the piano and organ for many years at church, weddings and other events. She was a lifelong member of the Crosby United Methodist Church, the Highlands Order of the Eastern Star #261, and the Indian Shores Garden Club serving as president of the organization in 2002-2003. Betty was an avid gardener and loved to share her gorgeous azaleas every spring with family and friends.

In 1949, Betty married the love of her life Charles Mixon Ecles. Charles had moved to Crosby after WWII to become the elementary principal. After graduating from the University of Houston, she began teaching first grade in Crosby. Betty's teaching career spanned over the next 30 years in the Crosby and Huffman school districts. She was a dedicated teacher who loved teaching children to read.

Betty is survived by her daughters Carol Mitchell and Becky Simon; grandchildren Mat Hechler, Jessica Mathieson, Chance Simon, Heather Simon, Becca Sharp and Scott Mitchell. Her nine great- grandchildren include: Mason Hechler, Hudson Hechler, Jack Mathieson, Jett Mathieson, Jase Mathieson, Devin Mobley, MacKenzie Dornak, Hollie Mitchell and Bailee Lunsford. Betty is also survived by her brother, Dennis Lindstrom, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 14 from 5 - 8 p.m. at Earthman Funeral Home in Baytown. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Friday, September 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Crosby United Methodist Church at 1334 Runneburg Road in Crosby, Texas.

Serving as pall bearers will be Mat Hechler, Matt Mathieson, Bruce Mitchell, Chance Simon, Randy Foster, Rodney Foster, Ronnie Hechler and David Kent.
