Deryl Ruth Rodgers opened her wings to be with the Lord on June 09, 2017. She was born on December 07, 1928, in Crowley, LA, to her parents Francis and Ethel Morgan. She grew up in a wonderful, musically talented family and had three brothers and four sisters. She would later have a radio singing ministry with her brother Billy Morgan. She started working at an early age at the rice mill in Crowley and often told of the great and fun times she had while there. She would sing at church revivals and rallies and it was at a revival in Bastrop, LA, that she met James (Jim) Rodgers. He followed her back to Crowley where they began to date and were later married. They then moved to Baytown, TX, to begin their own family. This new family was centered on faith in Christ and a deep love for the church. With her husband Jim working as a carpenter, she was blessed to be a stay at home mother. Her love and devotion to her husband and three children will never be forgotten.

Her many years of ministry in song have left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be greatly missed as a faithful member, musician and singer at Healing Waters Fellowship of Houston.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James W. Rodgers. She is survived by her daughter, Becky Mills and husband Neil, and her two sons, Russell Rodgers and wife Barbara; Richard Rodgers and wife Paula. Grandchildren, Tavia Davis; Kristi Van Eaton and husband Jonathan; Amanda Lewis and husband Myron; Jacob Rodgers and wife Jennifer; Justin Mills and wife Kailey. Great grandchildren are Elisabeth, Kati and Emily Van Eaton; Payton and Evelyn Mills; Luke Lewis and wife Ashleigh; Eva and Brady Rodgers; Micah, Ian, Devin, Morgan, Daniel, and Paul Hinkle; Brooklyn and Levi Lewis (on the way),

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017, for visitation at noon and Funeral service to begin at 1:00 pm with Rev. Russell Rodgers officiating.

Interment will follow at Memory Gardens in Baytown, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Earthman Baytown Funeral Home; 3919 Garth Rd, Baytown, TX 77521; (281) 422-8181.
